From our Teaching Artist workshops and general celebrations of our Young Artists and our programming, there is never a dull moment with ArtWorks!
EXPRESS YOURSELF SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS THIS FRI 9/13.
Luis from New Alternatives For Children has come ready to bring the house down at Express Yourself since his debut in 2014. He horse-danced his way through Psy’s “Gangnam Style” in 2016 and energized the crowd with his Latin-inspired dancing to “Follow The Leader” by the Soca Boys in 2018. We are counting down the days until Luis gives us a sneak peak of his 2019 dance routine. Any guesses?
Carrie from the Initiative for Women with Disabilities has been performing at Express Yourself since 2013. Most years she has chosen to recite a poem detailing real-life, every day experiences that leave the audience profoundly moved. This year we are excited to see her highly anticipated essay as an art piece in our gallery. Don’t forget, the EY Submission deadline is Friday, Sept. 13!
#TBT! Travel with us back to 2006 as we revisit the time when CNN’s Headline News covered ArtWorks and took a deep dive into one of our three notable programs- Express Yourself! One of our Young Artists, George from St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital is featured here as he shares his love for the arts throughout his medical journey.
ALL are welcome to attend ArtWorks Express Yourself on Sunday, November 10 at the NYU Kimmel Center to celebrate the exceptional talent of ArtWorks’ Young Artists. Please join us for a day of inspirational stories told through art, poetry, music and dance as well as Artist Workshops, a gallery exhibition and light refreshments. This event is FREE and open to patients, families, caregivers, hospital care teams, and friends. We look forward to seeing you there!
