From our Teaching Artist workshops and general celebrations of our Young Artists and our programming, there is never a dull moment with ArtWorks!
Camila and Delaney from St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital are a wonderful example of how the Young Artists, who participate in creative programs provided by ArtWorks, The Naomi Cohain Foundation, use their passion to heal, inspire and empower themselves. Next week, (November 27th) ArtWorks will participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. We invite our supporters to help us continue our mission to bring the healing power of the arts to children and young adults facing chronic and life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families. #ArtWorksKids #LetArtHeal
The Wilhelm family came by our office to drop off more than 150 art supplies in honor of their recent birthday celebration! They had first come to learn about ArtWorks after being treated at St. Peter’s University Hospital where they were greeted by the Surprise! Supplies Art Cart. Our mobile Art Cart is filled with art supplies and craft kits which are distributed to our Young Artists in the hospital setting. We are so honored that the Wilhelm family donated supplies so that other Young Artists, like themselves, who are in the hospital this time of year have the necessary tools to express themselves through the arts! #GivingTuesday #ArtWorksKids
Yesterday, we visited Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center for the opening of an art exhibition in the center’s gallery space which features over 20 pieces from our annual Express Yourself event that were created by residents of the center. We love it when Express Yourself inspires opportunities for our Young Artists to keep celebrating their creative spirit! Pictured here is Art Therapist, Carolyn Pennington and Child Life Specialist, Caroline Mason.
Each year, ArtWorks attends the Child Life of Greater New York’s Annual Professional Development Conference. Now in its 25th year, this one-day event offers Child Life professionals, educators and students access to educational symposia to build their professional knowledge and skills and opportunities to network with new and experienced colleagues within the field. ArtWorks attends the conference to inform attendees about our annual programs and how to initiate them in their hospitals and care centers. We were fortunate to meet many new and upcoming Child Life Specialists as well as connect with our current partners. We look forward to continued relationships with everyone in 2019! #ArtWorksKids #letARTheal
Last week, we met with Purvi Shah, Founder and Board Chair of the of the San Francisco-based Kids & Art Foundation! We were so excited to include “Crazy Hair” by Young Artist, Matthew, in our gallery exhibition at Express Yourself 2018. We are looking forward to many more exciting collaborations in the future!
Thank you to everyone who came out in support of ArtWorks to our annual Cocktail Benefit last Thursday at The Museum of the City of New York. With nearly 150 guests in attendance, we raised over $130,000 which goes directly to benefit children facing illness in the hospital setting. Whether you were able to join us or not, there is still time to support the event. Every donation counts and enables us to continue to heal, inspire and empower all of the Young Artists who participate in our programs each year. Please visit our Facebook to see the entire event album. #letARTheal #ArtWorksKids Photographs by Steven R. Hazlett.
Our final Express Yourself 2018 #FrameOfMind post highlights two framers, Andrea’s Frame It Yourself and The Framed Image in Pompton Plains. Without all of our wonderful framers, we would be unable to showcase all the beautiful masterpieces at our Express Yourself events. On behalf of all of our Young Artists, we thank you so very much for your generosity. #ArtWorksKids

Thank you to everyone who attended Express Yourself 2018 this past Sunday and made it a roaring success! Over 100 artworks were exhibited in our gallery and the performance showcase featured 15 performances each with distinct meaning and emotion. It was an honor to celebrate the amazing talent and spirit of all the Young Artists and over 150 guests! ArtWorks is humbled and grateful for the support of our sponsors and especially our framers who donated their resources and time to turn each artwork into a masterpiece and keepsake for our Young Artists. We truly could not do this without them. We would also like to thank all of the fantastic volunteers who spent their day making sure our event ran smoothly and our Teaching Artists who hosted our wonderful workshops! Be sure to visit our Facebook Event Album for more photos from the event! #ExpressYourself2018 #ArtWorksKids
There are 3 days left until all these fabulous pieces make their way to NYU Kimmel Center for Express Yourself 2018, our 29th Express Yourself event! See you all on Sunday at 1:30 PM for an unforgettable day!
