August introduces us to yet another amazing talent within the ArtWorks community; Stephanie. Stephanie is a multi-disciplinary artist who shared her incredible talents with ArtWorks at the Express Yourself-NY Show in 2015! At only sixteen year old, Stephanie’s wisdom shines through her pieces. She shared, “There are so many positive outcomes that come from creating art. It’s a way to express your feelings, it can be a way to get away from difficulties and it can also help you relax.”

Stephanie, from Brooklyn, NY, draws, paints, collages and sketches. When she created her piece “Identity,” she explained, “The figure with the camouflage pattern represents strength and the second figure is full of different colors and represents different emotions that are all puzzled up. I relate to this drawing because during my treatments I’ve learned to be strong and I’ve had all different kinds of emotions.”

When asked about her inspiration, featured artists, Stephanie, said “Almost anything or anyone can inspire me to draw. Everything and everyone has something special. Feeling and emotions also inspire me. So do places and personalities. They all have something unique that captures my attention.” Certainly Stephanie has captured the attention of ArtWorks and we are overjoyed that she finding the “beauty in art itself,” as she tells us. “Art means the a lot to me. It has helped me in so many ways. One of the biggest problems it has helped me through was to overcome this illness and that, to me, means a lot.” ArtWorks celebrates you, Stephanie, for all you have overcome and for all the color and vitality you continue to bring to our world.”
