The Young Artist Highlight section features our young participants who have used the creative or performing arts to cope with their illness, or the illness of a sibling, and have participated in our programs.
Our December Young Artist Highlight is Hope, from Hackensack University Medical Center! At just 10 years-old, Hope wrote and illustrated HSP Skin, which details her journey after being diagnosed with Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP), a disorder that affects her kidneys and causes rashes on her skin. What started off as a simple school assignment turned into Hope’s way of navigating through HSP and finding the beauty within herself.
Thank you, Hope, for sharing HSP Skin with ArtWorks and for inspiring so many other Young Artists to find new ways to express their creativity and tell their own story.
