Throughout the year, the ArtWorks community meets a Young Artist from one of our programs who has used the creative and performing arts to help them cope with their illness.

July 2017 ARTIST OF THE MONTH: Ansley
Age 7

ABOUT THE ARTIST

ArtWorks loves when a new month rolls around so we can share the stories of our Young Artists!
This month our Young Artist Highlight is about Ansley, age 7, who was diagnosed with Scleroderma. Ansley experiences hardening and tightening of the skin and tissues causing pain and stiffness in her hands which makes doing everyday things, including art, difficult. Child Life Specialist, Janice Rose-Gill from Hackensack UMC, says Ansley does not allow her illness to get in the way of expressing herself through the arts.

“She is an amazing artist and has shown strength through her pieces!”

Ansley enjoys experimenting with different materials like dot paint, pastels, sharpies and paper to create beautiful pieces like the one above.

Thank you Ansley for sharing your artistic journey with ArtWorks!
