Throughout the year, the ArtWorks community meets a Young Artist from one of our programs who has used the creative and performing arts to help them cope with their illness.
ArtWorks is privileged to be able to watch some of our participants grow into amazing young men and women. One of those participants is Ronny.
Title: “Angel Cat
“Her name is Maia and she has scratching power. When people bother her, she scratches them.”

“When I am asked why I like to draw, I would say because I like to draw. It was as simple as that! But when I thought about it, I realized I like to draw because I can use my imagination to create a wonderous land of magic and fantasy where everyone smiles and is happy.
“The people and animals I draw have incredible, flying abilites. And even the non-living objects I draw, which include buildings and mechanical devices, such as robots, motorcycles, and rocket ships, are full of life – they have faces, and can speak and are happy to be of help to people and animals.
“I’m beginning to realize that the reason for liking to draw is not that simple. Besides creating a fantasyland, creating artwork is also a way to express my desire to do what I like to do – make people happy!”
Ronny is also a great dancer! Check out his routine to Jason Derulo’s In My Head at Express Yourself NY 2014!
